2012 Photos UPDATE...

Well, I had not a single session in January and the gaol of completing my 2012 photos in 2012 was looking not so good. But here it is the end of February and things are looking up! I have done two basketball teams, and a sweet pair of sisters. I am only counting the amount of photos that the client receives, so even though I may take 150 photos, the 50 edited photos that go to the client are all that counts in my goal. And as far as the sports photos go, I am only counting the two individuals and the two team photos. SO the grand total so far as of this day is
                                                ......................DRUM ROLL.................................

82!

Haha, yea. Not the most impressive number, but hey it is better than ZERO! I will take it and be very grateful! Thanks so all that contributed to it! March is already looking pretty promising... ;)

Sisters...

Well, I had my first mini session in the "House on a Hill Photo Booth" this week. Two sisters. The older was a bit reluctant at first, but by the time I snapped my first shot I didn't believe for one minute that she did not like having her photo taken. The younger acted like this was not her first time striking a pose. We did a few of them together, and then individuals. The natural light reflected in their big beautiful eyes is my favorite part about their photos. Those smiles and grins make a close second though. The session was relaxed and casual, in the naturally lit photo booth that I set up here in my home.  We were able to capture some wonderful images in only a 30 minutes time! Here are a few...

I hope you will consider the "Photo Booth" as a great alternative to the stressful "mall photo studios." Trust me, I have spent my share of time in those things, and just remember how stressful it was with my first born to try to get the best shots. In the "Photo Booth" I take about 100-150 shots in that thirty minute time period. That allows me to then go back through and edit to get a collection of about 50 of the best shots possible. Each 30 minute mini session in the "House on a Hill Photo Booth" is only $50 for up to 3 children, and then an additional $25 per child if there is more than 3. Contact me today to schedule your own session!

Taking "FLIGHT"'s photos...

Last week I was invited to be the photographer of another group of ballers. It was a group of six year old and seven year old boys. Oh yes, I had my coffee before the shoot. It is a must. A majority of these boys I knew from being on my daughter's soccer and basketball teams for a few years. Most of them knew who I was and so this made my job all the more easy. The others that I did not know, I tried to at least learn their names before the shoot was up. Learning their names really helps me with the ordering process. If I do not have to always be checking my name reference sheet the whole ordering time, it can really speed up the process for me. I absolutely LOVE doing photography and all that it requires of me. I would love to do it all day long,  but let us be honest, it is not the only thing I have going on, so a little speed on my side is uber helpful.
So, I tried a new, really basic, simple (in theory), team photo with this team. I pose them all standing on the half circle of the half court circle. Yea, trying to get 7 seven year olds to stand still on a line, equally spaced a part, hands to their sides, and not giving me a funny face or evil look? NOT easy. I usually have my own style of team shots that is very relaxed and fun for the team to do. Lesson learned. Don't change what is working for ya. :) Below are a few samples from the shoot. And please contact me if you have any need of sports photography in your own life. ;)
This is a friend of mine's kid. He always has to have his "hair flare" for photos. Love it.

I always do one silly photo that I usually include for free with all my orders. This will be the one this time.

Via a suggestion from the audience, we decided to get creative with our "Coach and Son" shot. It was pretty full of drama and I am kinda in amazement that this photo turned out so well. Let us just say that the little boy from not so keen on being up on his tall daddy's shoulders. :)

So fun "FLIGHT". Thanks again!

Daddy/Daughter Dance...

I got to do a shoot last Saturday of two of the most beautiful people that I know...

They were on their way to a daddy and daughter dance, for a very special evening...

I know that these photos will not bring you as much joy as they bring me, but I hope you can appreciate them at least :) and you know what? Tears are OK...

Got some hoop dreams at the... YMCA!

Last night I got to take photos of a great group of young basketball players at the Y. I had to have my children with me for the first fifteen minutes of the shoot. Yea, I will not be bringing them along with me again. Way too stressful. But, after my wonderful husband got there, the stress was relieved and it was time to take some amazing photos. Thanks team, I had a blast!

I always do one "somewhat normal" team shot, and one "off the cuff". This would be the "off the cuff", I told them that they could do whatever pose they wanted...
