New Places and New Faces...

So, I did a quick post on Facebook last week about how I was able to get my first "complete stranger" client here in Nashville.

That means a lot to me, because is someone other than family or friends trusts me to do their photos, I count that as an honor.

Nicole and he precious little boy did me that honor a week and a half ago. She heard about me through a mutual friend. A friend that I only just met back in March when we moved here, our kids played soccer together. But, this friend was kind enough to say some sweet words about me and my photography on Facebook and Nicole enquired!

We set up our time, she wanted fall leaves, and so I asked my own personal Nashville guru where to go and Shelby Bottoms Nature Park it was!

I met Nicole and her son at the park and her sweet boy was a little shy, like any young kid would be around a stranger with a camera... Good for you kid, that is the right way to be ;)

Within no time though, he loosened up and was so charming and sweet. My favorite moments to capture are just the interactions between people and there were plenty of those moments going on between this boy and his most loved momma.

Here are a few of my personal favorites from the session...

Thank you again Nicole for letting me capture these beautiful and fleeting moments between you and your son. You two make one amazing team and the future is beyond bright for the both of you!

First Client in Nashville, but so much more than that...

So, in my previous blog I talked about how excited I was to get started doing photography here in Nashville. Well I completed my first session here last Friday at Shelby Bottoms Nature Center and Greenway. The family? Well, here is the story:

I met Rebekah this fall at the ball fields, her son played on the same team with my son, and her husband was the coach. I think we talked for like 5 minutes and connected on many levels and I was just SO excited to have met her! We continued to talk at games and our friendship is blooming and it is just pure awesomeness. She home schools, like me. She is leads her family in a very healthy lifestyle, like I try to. She is a successful work from home mom, (visit her Facebook page to find out more! Rebekah Downing Fitness & Nutrition) which I aspire to be. And, she doe not have a Tennessee accent, like me! Her Michigan accent is adorable, my Oklahoma accent? Not so much...

So to say the least, she is amazing and I am super pumped to know her and her beautiful family. She mentioned at the ball fields that she needed to get one year photos done of her son, and I was like: PLEASE LET ME DO THEM! I don't even think I had told her I was a photographer yet, lol, oh well. She agreed!

So we set up our session at the beautiful Shelby Bottoms near downtown Nashville... The leaves were started to fall, but it was pretty steamy that Friday afternoon! Oh Nashville and your lack of fall temperatures... Anyways. The session was so relaxed and fun, that happens when your clients are new friends and so easy to work with and be around. So, here are a few of my personal favorites from the session...

I really felt like this session needed a warm, autumn like tone to all the photos. So, I edited them that way based on the outfits that the family chose and the rustic setting.

I love just seeing families interact and be them.

Especially when they are being super cute.

Sometimes in a photo the Mom may be fixing her hair, or the Dad may be blinking (I don't remember if either of those things were true in this case) but, there will be something else very precious going on in the shot. That is what is happening above.

The way a son looks at his momma. Heart melt.

Rasslin' session.

The above photo will be so perfect for the boy's room.

This guy. Seriously. I know he would rather be playing baseball right now than in front of my camera, but I appreciate so much that he humored me.

I am pretty sure that the son said something to his Dad about how annoying I was being at this point, we were almost done!

I love that magical moment when a baby looks at you and connects with your lens at the most perfect moment.

Such an amazing couple. Thank You Downing family for being my FIRST session here in Nashville. You guys are wonderful and I look forward to many more... Sessions and Play Dates. ;)

Back at it!

My heart is a little fluttery, my mind is racing with creative goodness. You know WHYYY?

I GET TO DO PHOTOGRAPHY TODAY!!!

Having moved our family of 6 half way across the country in February, I had to put it on hold for while, you know so my family could have warm meals and my children could get an education and all. (I'm a homeschool mom if you didn't know that little nugget about me)

So today I get to get back out there! In a new city. No more Myriad Gardens (my home court back in Oklahoma City), Paseo District (OK, now I am just starting to get sad, that is WAY too close to my fav taco place in the world, and I need not think about that right now, today is a HAPPY day), and all those other amazing places in OKC that I know and love.
Today I am headed to Shelby Bottoms Park in East Nashville, and it's proximity to an amazing coffee shop for my after shoot treat is not by accident. ;)

So even though being a mom to my 4 hilarious children is my all time favorite job, this one is for sure in second. :)
